Pics of Gretchen's kid

Oh, yeah, the eggs started hatching on Saturday, and I have 13 baby Ameracauna chicks so far. More eggs are pipped and may hatch today or tonight.

Last baby goat born yesterday

Megan decided to have her baby while we were gone yesterday. Deb took her daughter to see the baby goats and baby chicks and called me to tell me about the new kid. Luna (our Great Pyr LGD) decided with Gretchen's kid that she needed to protect the kids from their mothers, and that's exactly what she did with Megan's. Deb moved Megan and kid to the small pen away from Luna and the others so they could settle down and get to know each other. It didn't take long before the kid was nursing and everything was fine.

BTW, it's another buckling...

Second baby goat!

Gretchen had her baby yesterday, and I can almost guarantee that Megan will be having her's TODAY. Of course, it's another buckling...hoping that Megan has a doeling! No pics yet, I'll take some tonight. I think that Luna decided to protect the baby from his own mother, so I moved Gretchen and son into the small pen so they could bond and he could figure out how to nurse from that GIGANTIC udder. This is Gretchen's third kid, and her udder is out of control. He did figure it out and seems fine. Updates to follow...

Finally, a baby goat!!! Yay!!!

This week was spring break for Katie, so she and I took a trip to Huntington Beach State Park in SC with Jennifer and Corrie. I just KNEW at least one baby would come while we were gone! Martha had a beautiful buckling on Wednesday 4/6/2011. We've decided to name him "Phantom" because he reminds me of Phantom of the Opera!
